About the Event
Learn the Vodder method of MLD and how to apply it in your practice- 3 levels (4 courses) make up the complete system
Online theory Level 1: Online lectures and exam give instruction in topics including physiology and pathology of the lymphatic system, fluid dynamics, edema, effects of MLD and indications/contraindications for the techniques.
Required textbook: Dr Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage: A Practical Guide (2018) by H, D, A, and M Wittlinger

Assistance with the material is available- email with questions. Some concepts may be reviewed briefly during the practical class.
Level 1 Practical (4 days): Learn the basic Vodder MLD techniques and how to apply them to the body- for patients with an intact lymphatic system only.
Prerequisite: Online theory course (exam can be completed during this class but material must be reviewed prior to L1P)
No examination in this class (apart from re-write of theory exam)
Level 2 Applied MLD (4 days): Clinical indications for MLD are taught for patients with a functional lymph vessel system. Indications include whiplash, burns, migraines, tinnitus, CRPS and stroke. Special techniques are taught for treatment of conditions such as supination trauma for the ankle, knee arthroplasty, cruciate ligament repair, adhesive capsulitis and hip pathologies.
Prerequisite: Online theory course plus Level 1 Practical course
Exam: Practical exam- successful completion enables certification in Applied MLD from the Dr. Vodder Academy/School International.
Level 3 Lymphedema (2 days of theory, 7 days practical): Lymphedema theory is taught by a medical doctor or PhD-level lymphologist. The pathophysiological background of edemas, in general, is covered as well as lymphedema and lipedema. Indications, contraindications and differential diagnosis of edema is explained. Level 3 Lymphedema Practical includes the correct application of Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT). This includes MLD, compression therapy (bandages & garments), edema exercises and skin care. Applications include treatment of upper and lower extremity lymphedema, lipedema, chronic venous insufficiency edema and head & neck edema.

Prerequisites: Online theory course, Level 1 Practical course
Exams: Practical (MLD and bandaging components) and theory exams- successful completion enables certification from the Dr. Vodder Academy/School International in CDT.
